EINNICKEN RECORDS WISTRAND/RYTZLER QUARTET | Biography Stefan Wistrand | Tenor & Soprano Saxophones, Bass Clarinet Johannes Rytzler | Piano Oscar Olsson | Electric Bass Carl Lindecrantz | Drums Photo: Magnus Tannergren Wistrand/Rytzler Quartet was formed in September 2008 after Stefan Wistrand had been approached with the proposition of playing jazz music at a wedding. Tunes composed by Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk were the foundation for the first gig. The wedding gig turned out to be a success and the quartet decided to continue playing together. Since the first gig the group’s repertoire has grown to be mostly of their own writing. Outside of the WRQ-environment the players are involved in everything from experimental jazz to klezmer music in projects like Nods Off, Fundamental Form, Two Sounds Ensemble, Memento Mori (Stefan Wistrand), Metamusik, Chrytzler (Johannes Rytzler), Spectroscope (Oscar Olsson) and Den Flygande Bokrullen (Carl Lindecrantz).
