Drummer Peter Olsen played in pianist Per Henrik Wallin’s free improvising trio in the mid-seventies. When the PHW Trio took a temporary break in 1976 Olsen relocated to his hometown Örebro where he met Wistrand and they decided to set up a band together. Wistrand had previously been playing in different jazzrock formations. After some time experimenting with various line-ups they settled for the duo, deciding to work in the pure heart of improvisation. Loose structures served as starting points for those journeys, which could be totally different from concert to concert. Wistrand/Olsen was recorded live at Huset in Örebro in 1977 and the recording later released as the album "Duo" on electronic composer Leo Nilsson’s short-lived label ViaKassett in 1978. Wistrand/Olsen has since continued playing together. For example in 2006 the Duo did a concert series at Galleri Jepsen in Eskilstuna that lasted for a month. Some duo stuff has appeared on albums by Nods Off.
